Composition student Christopher Bond has had two professional brass commissions recently.
The Black Dyke Band – one the UK’s most famous brass bands – commissioned Chris to write a new piece for a cornet ensemble. It will be performed by 80 cornet and trumpet players at an event during the Black Dyke Brass Arts Festival in May.
Chris has also composed The Royal Diamond Jubilee Fanfare, which will be performed next week when HM The Queen and Prince Philip visit the former steelworks in Ebbw Vale as part of the Jubilee Tour.
Great news for Chris, who is only in the second year of his degree. Definitely one to watch…
