Stemming from the success of Jazz Time, RWCMD is working with Arts Council Wales and Colwinston Charitable Trust to introduce a brand new scheme that will take our up-and-coming jazz musicians on tour with professional jazz artists to venues around the country. The first of these, the Beautiful Anarchy Tour, will take place in February 2013.

Jazz Time has become a hugely popular regular feature at the College and is now firmly embedded in Cardiff’s jazz calendar, attracting some of the biggest audiences for jazz in Wales.  Pioneered by RWCMD’s Head of Jazz, Paula Gardiner, the sessions are free events running every Friday during term time 5.30pm – 7.30pm in the stunning foyer of the College’s landmark building.

The sessions are programmed by the students themselves, allowing them invaluable experience of planning and showcasing their own live performances to a highly diverse audience – from seasoned jazz aficionados to casual music lovers.

Introducing the students’ work to new audiences across the country, the tour will also be spreading jazz out into the wider community with a series of workshops for young people run by the students themselves.

Jazz Time will be touring with The Paula Gardiner Trio and will culminate in a high-profile three-day international jazz festival at the College.
