The Arts Foundation has announced the three shortlisted entrants for the 2013 Design for Performance Fellowship and once again graduate Jean Chan finds herself in the spotlight.

Upon graduating in 2008, Jean undertook a sought-after apprenticeship with the Royal Shakespeare Company. She went on to take the 2009 Linbury Prize for her recreation of a dynamic  landfill site, from which costumes, props and puppets sprang to life in Rosamund Hutt’s direction of The Garbage King.

Since then Jean has worked on several imaginative and high profile sets, including The Hairy Ape and The Irish Giant at Southark Playhouse and working with Jon Bausor on the Paralympics Opening Ceremony.

The Arts foundation is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year and will award Fellowships of £10,000 across six art forms to artists who have shown great promise in their existing work.

“The selection of artists shortlisted for the 2013 awards has proved what extraordinary talent we have in the UK today. Although only one artist will go through to win the award, their original nomination and then selection onto the shortlist already proves that they are producing notable work and we are very proud to announce the line-up in all categories awarded this year.”
Antony Gormley, Trustee, the Arts Foundation

The winners will be announced on the 24th of January – best of luck Jean!
