Arthur Hughes, who completes his actor training at RWCMD this year,  has won a prestigious BBC Carleton Hobbs Bursary Award.

Named after Carleton Hobbs, who was a famous radio actor during the ‘Golden Age of Radio’, the competition looks for distinctive, versatile radio voices from the UK’s drama schools.

Arthur was chosen as one of four winners out of a pool of 88 students from 22 drama schools. He wins a five-month salaried contract with the BBC Radio Drama Company, which produces drama for Radio 3, Radio 4, the World Service and BBC 7.

Fellow student Wilf Scolding is a runner-up in this year’s competition.

Since 1996, there have been an impressive ten winners and six runners up from RWCMD.
