Young Actors Studio

Young Actors Studio recently launched in Pembrokeshire and we caught up with some new students to see how they were getting on:

Rosie Davies, Sophie Williams and Henry Whittaker all attended the free ‘taster’ workshops which were available at the start of the year before the course started in April. They’ve all since auditioned successfully for Young Actors Studio acting classes.

“The workshops exceeded my expectations by far,” enthuses Rosie, from Neyland. “I learnt so much in such a short period of time and will definitely use the different techniques that the tutors have taught us in the future. The tutors and staff were so down to earth, knowledgeable and easy to talk to, you felt instantly more relaxed and comfortable around a group of people that you had never met before. It didn’t feel competitive or judgemental which was what I was afraid of!”

Sophie from St Florence, Tenby, agrees, “I’ve gained so much more experience and knowledge from just taking part in the two day course. I enjoyed each class, especially improvisation with Paul! Improvisation is very new to me and I’ve often found it quite daunting but after the two hours with Paul I have grown to really enjoy improv and learnt a lot by taking part.

I’ve thoroughly enjoyed myself and definitely want to continue working with Young Actors. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to experience this workshop and work with such amazing and helpful staff.”

“The Young Actors Studio encouraged and helped me to use my strengths and explore my weaknesses,” adds Henry. “There was no right or wrong, just experimentation and self-discovery. The lecturers didn’t tell me what to do, but gave me the tools to discover for myself what options I could use when performing.”

Young Actors Studio Pembrokeshire takes place at Pembrokeshire College every Saturday, and at the Royal Welsh College,  Cardiff every Sunday.
