RWCMD conducting alumnus Edward-Rhys Harry directed the London Welsh Festival of Male Choirs on Saturday at the Royal Albert Hall. The sell-out festival, which was celebrating its 45th anniversary this year, featured the London Welsh Male Voice Choir along with 13 guest choirs from the UK, Norway, Sweden and South Africa.
The choirs were accompanied by the British Sinfonietta, an independent professional orchestra managed by percussion alumnus Dave Danford and featuring more than 20 former students of the College.
Soloists, Trystan Llyr Griffiths and Rhiannon Llewellyn, also trained at RWCMD. Tenor Trystan, who completed his MA in Opera Performance at the College earlier this year, is currently studying at London’s National Opera Studio.
The concert will be broadcast on S4C later in the year, followed by a DVD release.
