Bassoonists Join Southbank Sinfonia

Two former RWCMD students have been selected to join Southbank Sinfonia. Harry Ventham and Gareth Humphreys have joined the innovative orchestra, which brings together 33 graduates from across the globe for a coveted orchestral experience.

Each year, the young musicians get vital experience of playing a variety of musical styles, from baroque to contemporary, opera to jazz. They perform across the UK and Europe, and work in partnership with leading arts organisations, like the Royal Opera House, BBC Concert Orchestra and the National Theatre.

Gareth says: “I feel fantastic that I have been able to get this chance to play in Southbank Sinfonia. There are an increasing number of orchestral musicians in orchestral seats that attribute being in Southbank Sinfonia as a pivotal step towards their success. I really hope that I can follow on from the model that previous members have set and find plenty of orchestral work once the programme is over.”
