Woodwind students had a very inspirational two days recently, as three of the world’s most successful players visited the college.

First up was bassoonist Pascal Gallois. He conducted the Royal Welsh College Chamber Winds in a concert to celebrate Pierre Boulez’ 90th birthday, and gave a masterclass to students.

The next day, clarinetist Michael Collins also gave a public concert and private masterclass.

The performances by two of the world’s top players attracted another one of their peers to visit the college – the eminent bassoonist Roger Birstingl.

The trio are pictured above with RWCMD’s Head of Woodwind Meyrick Alexander.
