Hollywood actor and director Matthew Rhys worked through scenes from his hit series The Americans with acting and musical theatre students at the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama this week. In his first official visit to the College in his new role as Jane Hodge International Chair in Drama, he shared acting techniques for film and television, as well as anecdotes, advice and insights from his career.

“When you combine the level of training here at the Royal Welsh College with facilities like this, it’s little wonder it’s at the top of its game,” he said. “I accepted the role of International Chair because the training here is second to none. The students have that eager, hungry spirit – they ask you things you haven’t thought of in years. It’s infectious and it’s glorious to be around. I wanted to give them the opportunity to ask all the questions that only a working actor with that real life experience can answer.”
