Euphonium player Grant Jameson has been announced as the winner of the BBC Young Brass Award 2015.
At the final – which was broadcast live on BBC Radio 2 – Jameson played alongside the Grimethorpe Colliery Band, in an arrangement of Paganini’s Carnival of Venice and Genesis by Joshua Jameson.
Grant said: “It feels amazing to win the award and to play with such a prestigious ensemble. I really think this is going to help launch my career as a soloist.”
Grant – who comes from Ohio, USA – is in his third year at RWCMD. Another third year euphonium player from the college, Jack Lapthorn, was also a semi-finalist in the competition.
