This week, we are excited to introduce the new ensemble of emerging actors who will be performing as part of the Richard Burton Company throughout the coming autumn, spring and summer seasons.
These actors are in their third and final year of training at RWCMD. Actors from the College’s one-year postgraduate Acting programme will join the ensemble after Christmas. The Richard Burton Company also includes designers, stage managers and technical specialists from the College.
The first two shows featuring the new cast members open at the College this week…
In December, we turn to Shakespeare as the Company presents a new production of The Taming of the Shrew directed by Iqbal Khan – fresh from directing Othello for the Royal Shakespeare Company – and Caroline Byrne directs Macbeth at Chapter, Cardiff.
Also in December, as part of the Richard Burton Company season, our musical theatre performers will appear in Stephen Sondheim’s Into the Woods, a major production that represents the culmination of their training at RWCMD.
Thanks to the generous support of accommodation provider, Liberty Living, all RWCMD students are eligible for complimentary tickets for most Richard Burton Company productions. (Student tickets for Into the Woods are £3.) Ask at Box Office or visit The Hub for full details and make sure you get hold of your tickets early to avoid disappointment.
Drama at the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama is supported by the Richard Carne Trust, the Spielman Charitable Trust, the Simon Gibson Charitable Trust and the Mosawi Foundation.
