Grant is Karl Jenkins Award Semi-Finalist

It’s going to be a busy week for euphonium student Grant Jameson:

On Sunday Grant is competing in the semi-final of the prestigious Karl Jenkins Awards . The judging panel will be led by Sir Karl Jenkins himself and will include Dame Evelyn Glennie and the managing editor of  Classic FM, who along with The Arts Club are supporting the award.

The final is on Sunday 13 March.

Before that, as his prize for winning the College’s annual Concerto Competition, Grant is the soloist with the Central Band of the Royal Airforce in the Dora Stoutzker Hall this evening.

He will also be performing with Philip Cobb, Principal Trumpet with the London Symphony Orchestra

Fourth year student  Grant, from Ohio, USA, is a member of College band Euphoria, which in addition to a busy recital schedule, has just been accepted onto the Live Music Now scheme. He won the BBC Young Brass Award 2015 and is currently a semi-finalist in the College’s Ian Stoutzker Prize.

Update June 2016: Grant was selected to receive The Musician’s Company Award in the Wind category. The prize money of £10,000 will go towards his postgraduate study at RWCMD for 2016/17.
