Second year music student Lydia Taylor has been appointed the Principal French Horn seat for National Youth Wind Orchestra of Great Britain 2017

The National Youth Wind Orchestra of Great Britain is the UK’s premier wind orchestra for young musicians aged 14 to 21. The orchestra provides training, the chance to work with contemporary composers and industry professionals, and opportunities to perform in prestigious concert venues in the UK and overseas.

I am most looking forward to having the responsibility of a principal role and gaining more knowledge from visiting professionals covering challenging repertoire!

I decided to study at RWCMD because of the friendly and warm atmosphere, and the vast amount of playing opportunities available for a variety of different genres of music. I want to be a professional musician (potentially in the RAF) and teach horn, so being encouraged and able to play for hours each day surrounded by like-minded people is perfect!”

Congratulations, Lydia and good luck in your role at NYWO!
