Those of you with keen eyes will have spotted some familiar locations in BBC One’s Doctor Who Christmas Special, The Return of Doctor Mysterio, which aired on Christmas Day.
The BBC took over the RWCMD foyer area earlier on in 2016 to film parts of the Christmas special, including the opening scene below.
really really strong performance from @RWCMD in doctor who today – played the role of manhatten sky-scraper with both skill and guile

The windows overlooking Bute Park were transformed into a New York skyscraper scene, and later on into a view of Mount Fuji, Japan thanks to the wonders of green screen.
Some RWCMD staples even made it into the episode as props!

As well as some other more recognisable props…
This is, of course, not the first time the College has been involved with the adventures of Doctor Who.
In 2013, alumnus James North told us about his experiences working as Associate Designer on the iconic series; graduate Catrin Stewart played recurring character Jenny Flint in Doctor Who opposite Peter Capaldi; RWCMD Vice President, Fellow, collaborator and friend of the College Ed Thomas talked about his career being a production designer on Torchwood, Doctor Who and Da Vinci’s Demons.
Many other students and graduates have gone on to work on screen and behind the scenes at the BBC Roath Lock Drama Village in Cardiff Bay.
You can still watch the episode here on BBC iPlayer until January 24th.
