‘Lit Up From Top to Toe’: Thalissa Teixeira in The Unknown Island

Thalissa Teixeira shines in The Gate Theatre’s latest production, an adaption of late Portuguese Nobel Laureate José Saramago’s “fairytale-like short story”, The Unknown Island.

“If I were a casting director, I would put Thalissa Teixeira at the top of my list of new names.”

The Guardian

The Guardian describes her performance as ‘lit up from top to toe’, and The Evening Standard comments that among the four narrating actors, ‘Thalissa Teixeira shines particularly brightly’.

This is the latest in the 2014 graduating actor’s critical acclaim.

Her rich resume already includes roles at The Old Vic (Electra), as well as at Royal Exchange (The Night Watch) and The Globe, (Othello).

Last year, Thalissa ‘dazzled’ in the acclaimed Yerma (Young Vic) opposite Olivier Award winner Billie Piper, in the Guardian’s 5 star review.

Below: Thalissa plays Ollie in Pomona, commissioned as part of the College’s NEW writing season, which premiered in Cardiff and at The Gate Theatre. It went on to be nominated for four Offies and was staged in the National Theatre and the Royal Exchange Theatre.
