ensemblebash brought their innovative and groundbreaking chamber ensemble to the Dora Stoutzker Hall last week.
They were joined by our Percussion students, combining a range of musical styles, rhythms and instruments:
It’s not often you see eight metres of marimbas on a stage, before breaking out a series of Djembe drums, among cowbells, xylophones with gourd resonators, tin cans and even a donkey’s jawbone!

The vibrant quartet are known for ‘making playing percussion the coolest, noisiest and funniest occupation on earth,’ according to The Times, and create an eclectic mix of traditional West African music with contemporary classical, jazz and music theatre.
