Bad Wolf’s Natasha Hale Joins RWCMD Board of Directors

The Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama is delighted to announce the appointment of Natasha Hale to its Board of Directors. Natasha will join the Board with immediate effect.

Natasha brings to the position a passion for making the creative industries accessible, and a wide-ranging experience in both the music and drama industries within Wales and on an international scale.

Starting her career at 16 managing her friends’ band, she went on to found the Welsh Music Foundation, establishing an infrastructure to support the music creators within Wales.

She then formed the Welsh Government’s Creative Industries division which was instrumental in making Wales a global centre for high-end TV and film production.

Following on from this Natasha was responsible for the establishment of Pinewood Studio Wales, helping to regenerate Dragon Studios near Cardiff and bringing Da Vinci’s Demons, BBC Worldwide’s co-production with US television network Starz, to Swansea’s Bay Studios.

She is currently Chief Operating Officer for Bad Wolf Productions and the innovative Wolf Studios Wales. Wolf Studio Wales operates on a philanthropic basis and is unique in offering a built-in teaching facility, offering opportunities to local talent.

Announcing the appointment, John Derrick, Chair of the Board of Directors at the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama, said:

“We are delighted that Natasha has agreed to join the Board of the College. The depth and range of her experience in the creative industries in Wales and the US will reinforce our focus on developing world class talent as one of the leading music and drama Conservatoires in Europe.

She will contribute to the Board’s focus on nurturing the next generation of students, maximising the diversity of our recruitment pool and ensuring that they are well prepared to join the creative industries through strong links with industry.”

Speaking of her appointment, Natasha Hale said:

“I’m excited and honoured to join the Board of the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama.

The College plays a crucial role in developing the skills and talent that the creative industries require, both in Wales and internationally.  In my new role, I hope to help forge new links between creative businesses, the College and its students”

The Board provides leadership to the College in carrying out its role as the National Conservatoire of Wales.

The Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama, the National Conservatoire of Wales, and part of the University of South Wales Group, operates within its international peer group of conservatoires and specialist arts colleges. It attracts young artists from around 30 countries to provide a constant flow of emerging talent into the music and theatre industries and related professions.

In June 2011, the College opened new £22.5 million performance and rehearsal spaces. The world-class facilities include the Richard Burton Theatre, the Linbury Gallery, foyer performance space, rehearsal studios and the Dora Stoutzker Hall.

In 2017 the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama was ranked No.1 in the Guardian University Guide’s subject tables for Drama – the third time it has taken the top spot in the past five years.

The RWCMD Board has recently announced Professor Helena Gaunt as its new Principal, who will join the College in September 2018
