Penny King Appointed New Head of Creative Programming

The Royal Welsh College is delighted to announce that Penny King has been appointed Interim Head of Creative Programming, to cover the period of a calendar year when Andrew Miller is on secondment to the Royal and Derngate Theatres, Northampton.

She has worked for over 25 years at a senior level in music and the performing arts, most recently as an independent producer developing national and international touring productions.

For several years she was Producer of the Contemporary Music Network which involved delivering UK touring projects.

As a producer, she has developed fruitful relationships with the Southbank Centre, Barbican Centre, BBC Proms and Edinburgh International Festival amongst a range of venues and promoters.

Penny has an extensive overview of the UK arts sector: She was Music Officer and Head of Performing Arts for Arts Council England in the South East of England, and subsequently Interim Director of Music at Arts Council England.  Most recently, she advised Creative Scotland on the strategy and design of its regular arts funding programme which was launched last year.

Penny joined the College in January.
