RWCMD Appoints New Head of Woodwind Performance

25 October 2017

The Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama delighted to welcome Nicholas Carpenter as Head of Woodwind Performance. Nick’s professional background as an orchestral and chamber musician, combined with his extensive experience in conservatoire training, places him in a unique position further to develop the outstanding work of Meyrick Alexander at the College.

Nicholas’ experience as an educator embraces all stages of development and will enable RWCMD Woodwind to grow musical relationships within the community, encouraging and supporting the work of Music Authorities and RWCMD Junior Conservatoire.

Meyrick will continue to teach bassoon at the College as part of the specialist team of tutors, selected from leading orchestras, soloists and ensembles throughout the UK.

The College is also pleased to welcome back Adrian Partington as RWCMD Head of Choral Conducting. Adrian was a central figure in the development of the College’s widely respected MA in Choral Conducting. Adrian’s vision embraces music performance and education at every level and will enable RWCMD students to undertake outreach and educational projects, in addition to delivering professional concert performances of choral masterpieces.
