The College is pleased to welcome harp enthusiasts from far and wide to the College this weekend for The Ingenious Harp, a three-day harp festival featuring, for the first time in Europe, the prestigious Lyon & Healy Awards.

The programme features performances from world-renowned harpists including Catrin Finch, Hannah Stone, Maria Luisa Rayan-Forero and Jana Boušková as well as a range of workshops, masterclasses, exhibitions, and solo and ensemble recitals.

One of the highlights of the festival will be the Lyon & Healy competition with 41 competitors travelling from across the UK, Europe and further afield.  Four RWCMD students will also be competing: Megan Morris and Llywelyn Jones from Wales, Liv Dahren from Sweden and Solveig Thoroddsen from Iceland.

Caryl Thomas, who leads the harp department at RWCMD, was delighted to see the first of hundreds of harps arriving at the College. “I’m sure the whole experience will be an unforgettable one for everyone involved,” she said “and it is with great honour that we welcome the Lyon & Healy Awards to Europe for the first time.”
