I always start with a good breakfast and a strong flat white.

That’s how Rhian Lois prepares for a performance with English National Opera.

Rhian is currently one of 12 young singers on English National Opera’s Harewood Artists programme – an initiative for talented singers at the start of their careers to receive specialist coaching, support and guidance while performing with a major opera company.

After graduated from the College’s vocal studies department, Rhian studied at the Royal College of Music, then joined the National Opera Studio. She has appeared in concert with Bryn Terfel, performed Mozart’s Requiem with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra and has sung to HRH Prince Charles at his home in Mid Wales.

Rhian made her performance debut with English National Opera as Ivette in Weinberg’s The Passenger and has recently performed Frasquita in Carmen, Papagena  in The Magic Flute and Nerine in Medee for the company. She will appear in Xerxes this autumn.

Rhian is not the only RWCMD graduate to sing with ENO this season. Samantha Price appears as Cherubino in The Marriage of Figaro and in Orfeo, and Justina Gringyte will play the title role of Carmen.
