Two Lighting Awards for Graduates

Two RWCMD graduates received accolades for their work at the TPI awards and the Irish Times Theatre Awards this month.

Tim Routledge (pictured above) won lighting designer of the year at the 14th TPI awards, the annual gathering of the live event industry. The awards reward the most talented and successful individuals and companies with the industry.

Tim works as lighting designer and programmer for broadcast, touring, concerts and events across the globe. Notable highlights amongst Tim’s varied career include designer for the opening and closing ceremonies of the Commonwealth Games 2014, Ryder Cup opening concert and programming the opening and closing ceremonies of the London 2012 Olympics.

Ciaran Bagnall (centre of picture) won Best Lighting Designer for his work on Pentecost for Lyric Belfast.

Ciaran Bagnall was awarded Best Lighting Design at the Irish Times Theatre Awards for his work on the Lyric Theatre’s acclaimed production of Pentecost.  Since graduating Ciaran has been making waves as a set and lighting designer for companies such as the RSC, National Theatre and the Bush Theatre.
