Congratulations to second-year student Sarah Jenkins, who has won the top award for BBC Proms Inspire Young Composer’s Composition 2017.
Sarah won the first prize in the senior category of the competition for her composition Three Miniatures of Ynys Lawd.
Clarinetist Sarah has embraced opportunities to access extra training within the College – attending masterclasses in composition as well as receiving support and advice from Head of Composition, John Hardy.
Her winning work was performed at the Radio Theatre at BBC Broadcasting House last week, and will be broadcast on BBC Radio 3.
As a result of winning the competition, Sarah has received a BBC commission to write a new composition to be performed next year.
Congratulations to the talented winning and Highly Commended composers of the #BBCProms Inspire Competition 2017! https://t.co/Ao5n72f2Tk
