Graduate Jason Lewis is keeping to his Celtic roots, moving from his previous post as Principal Trumpet at the Orchestra of Scottish Opera to his new role as associate Principal Trumpet at the Royal Scottish National Orchestra.

Welsh born Jason, a former member of the National Youth Band of Wales, studied trumpet at the College with Principal Trumpet of the BBC National Orchestra of Wales, Philippe Schartz, before completing a Master of Arts at the Royal Academy of Music in London,

“I’m delighted to be appointed to the RSNO, an orchestra I’ve admired for many years,” said Jason.

“I consider it to be an honour to join a brass section with such an incredible reputation and very much look forward to performing with my esteemed colleagues.”

Fellow graduate and RSNO Principal Trumpet, Chris Hart said, “Jason is a tremendously talented musician and I’m thrilled that he’s decided to join us in the RSNO.

Always striving for artistic excellence, I know that he will be a fantastic asset to our brass section and we’re all looking forward to having him in the Orchestra.”

Jason Lewis officially joins the RSNO in May, but will join the orchestra in March for its first tour of the USA under recently appointed Music Director Thomas Sondergard.
