Double congratulations are in order to our Royal Welsh College’s Skills Awards winners, as they received the award on the eve of their graduation!

First prize went to actor Peter Heenan, with musicians Flora Farquharson and Julia Palmer sharing the second prize.

The Skills Award offers graduating students of the College the opportunity to record the value added, co and extra-curricular activities which they have been part of.

Those might include work experience, volunteering, enterprising projects, being part of a society & REPCO.

Peter, Flora and Julia have been a vital part of the College’s cultural life in the time they’ve been here. Peter with his mental health project #PostPieces and Julia and Flora with their WomenCan100 project.

You can see them talking about their RepCo projects here:

“Whatever career path you have in mind you will be entering a competitive world and future employers will be looking for applicants who can add value and bring additional skill.,” said Brian Weir, Director of Student Experience.

“Your ability to demonstrate those experiences you have gained alongside your studies will be recognised more and more by future employers.

This year our prize winners are students whose contribution to extra-curricular activities had an impact across the whole institution and wider community. Congratulations to Peter, Flora and Julia!”

This award began last year as an opportunity for music students. It was so successful that it has been opened up to students on courses across the College.

Each will receive a cash prize sponsored by the Student’s Union.
