Christmas came in on tiptoe to the College last week as our 2021 MA Musical Theatre students celebrated the festive season in the Dora Stoutzker Hall.
With Musical Direction from Michael Morwood, a very limited, and very lucky, internal audience of fellow students and staff were treated to a taste of the glories of the annual Christmas Cabaret.
Usually, the students would have been performing for several sell-out evenings to a packed Dora Stoutzker Hall:
‘I’m astonished and proud that we were able to perform live to a very small internal audience,’ said Vivien Care, Musical Theatre Course Leader. An incredible amount of work went into making the event totally Covid-safe; with two and six metre (for singing) distancing, mic covers changed every number, sanitizer onstage, masks, and a partridge in a pear tree!’

Our Director of Music, Tim Rhys-Evans arranged several of the pieces in the programme including Tua Bethlem Dref, sung by Olivia Hopper. As Olivia (below) said on social media:

Our Musical Theatre students work with many industry experts and freelancers throughout the year, including composer, arranger and RWCMD grad David Harrington. He was delighted to be able to continue to work with our ‘joyous’ MA Musical Theatre students this term, despite everything.
